Stop Skipping Breakfast and Try This 5 Minute Breakfast Idea

Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition did a study of over 12,000 people and found that those individuals that reported eating breakfast had an overall decreased energy density for the day, a lower BMI, and a higher diet quality.  A recent survey concluded that about 10% of Americans skip breakfast. Here is a quick, easy, and highly nutritious breakfast that you can make in under 5 minutes:

 

Ingredients: Power Packed Smoothie

  1. Protein Powder

Protein is the primary building material throughout the body, especially muscle tissue. I recommend a basic whey protein or a plant based protein. Look for a clean protein that doesn’t have a lot of fillers and added sugar.

  1. Green Veggies

Incorporating green vegetables will provide you with a healthy dose of fiber and vitamins to help with digestive health. I recommend using either Spinach or Kale. You can even get a spinach and kale 50/50 blend.

  1. Ceylon (cinnamon)

Most cinnamon sold in the USA is cassia cinnamon, which is Chinese Cinnamon. Ceylon comes Sri Lanka and is a bit more expensive but totally worth it. Ceylon cinnamon stabilizes your blood sugar levels, helps with controlling body weight, and has antioxidants called proanthocyanadins.

  1. Raw Organic Vanilla Powder

This not only adds flavor to your smoothie, but is also a very powerful anti-inflammatory.

  1. MCT Oil

MCT Oil is basically broken down coconut oil that is liquid at room temperature. MCT Oil helps you maintain a healthy weight, reduce stored body fat, have more energy, think more clearly, better digestion, balance hormones, improve mood, increase immune function, and absorb fat-soluble nutrients. MCT oil has gotten the nickname of secret superhero fuel for all of those benefits.

  1. Fruit or Avocados

I like to add a fruit to the smoothie for flavor and nutrients. You can add a banana, blueberries, strawberries, or an avocado to your smoothie.

  1. Ice and Water

Add a cup of water and a handful of ice to your smoothie to keep it from becoming too thick. This will make it much easier to drink.

  1. Flax or Chia seed

A tablespoon of either chia or flax seed will add a high level of Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are great for a wide range of health benefits and reduce inflammation within the body.

 

The above smoothie recipe takes about 5 minutes to make and is packed full of essential nutrients. It will give you more mental clarity, more energy, and better health.
